A Tradition Revived! Jul 18, 2008 I wasn't suprised to be a perfect revision of the classic game that we know had horrible colors, horrible sound bytes, and horrible x99 MasterBall Missingno trick (well that wasn't all that bad).
But those horrible things were the only things we had in that game back then and we loved it like that. But I like how Nintendo went with today's times and did the graphics, sound, sadly no missingno (or is there).
I love it. It's today's kids experience of what we experienced when we were kids. Perfect! 5 out of 5!
according to my son Jun 14, 2008 We bought this last Christmas for our 10 year old. He's a big Pokemon fan and now has all four of the GBA Pokemon games he'd wanted. He has a bunch of other GBA games but always chooses one of these Pokemon ones. He also said he likes to connect with friends and they can share/trade Pokemon that way with these games.
Pokemon Fire Red Version May 09, 2008 My other grandson loves to spend some time playing games on his GBA. So, he is always excited when he gets a new one. He is always adding more cartridges to his collection ever so often. He even likes to buy them for himself when he goes shopping with his mom or me. But he gets so frustrated when he does not win any battle or games.
POKEMON FIRE RED REVIEW Apr 22, 2008 I bought it used which came from BUY IT NOW GAMES for $11.50. The cheapest I found in stores was $30. A free Pokemon card was included with the game which made all the difference in the world to a 6 year old boy receiving the gift.

A classic returns Jan 09, 2008 Pokemon started with two games in Japan - Red and Green. Those were back in the days when the Game Boy had black and white dot matrix graphics, and where there were only 151 of the critters to catch. The series has grown remarkably since then. Now, it returns to its roots with Pokemon Fire Red.
Fire Red is a mostly faithful recreation of the original Pokemon game. It features the original region, the classic Team Rocket, and the quest to defeat the Elite Four and become the Pokemon League champion. Admittedly, the plot is pretty one-dimensional and has been repeated ad nasuem by other Pokemon games. This is the game in its original form.
In addition to the return to the original, Fire Red features travel to several other new islands, where Pokemon from later versions appear. Furthermore, there are new moves and a few other additions that build on the original adventure. The graphics are all greatly improved, and the game comes with a wireless connector that allows for easier trades and combat with other players.
Pokemon always has a few weaknesses, and Nintendo hasn't dared mess with a formula that is working. Specifically, the plot is pretty linear, and doesn't have some of the options that have worked their way into later editions of the game (contests, for instance). Also, the number of random battles in certain areas becomes tiring and repetitive after a while. However, these flaws are easily ignored in the face of the larger game. Because of the variety of pokemon, the excellent graphics and music, and the light-hearted nature of the game, Pokemon Fire Red is a great source for hours of fun.
